Sacred Medicines & Practices

Sacred medicines have been used for generations to support healing, self-discovery, and spiritual growth.

At Healing Ceremonies Mexico, we work with these medicines with deep respect, responsibility, and care. We do not see them as quick solutions or miracle cures, but as tools that may help open the door to deeper awareness, emotional healing, and a renewed connection with yourself.

Every person’s journey is unique. For this reason, each retreat is guided individually, and no medicine is offered simply because it is part of a program. Our approach always prioritizes safety, readiness, and meaningful integration.

Ayahuasca

Ayahuasca is a traditional Amazonian plant medicine that has been used for centuries in ceremonial settings. Many people seek this medicine during periods of emotional challenge, personal transition, or when searching for deeper clarity and self-understanding.

Rather than offering answers, Ayahuasca often helps bring awareness to subconscious patterns, unresolved emotions, limiting beliefs, and areas of life that are ready for healing.

Our ceremonies are guided with live music, traditional instruments, silence, and compassionate support. We believe the experience is not about chasing visions, but about creating the conditions for genuine inner work and lasting transformation.

May support:

  • Emotional healing
  • Self-awareness
  • Releasing limiting patterns
  • Processing unresolved experiences
  • Personal and spiritual growth

Kambó

Kambó is a traditional Amazonian cleansing ritual applied through the skin using the secretion of the Giant Monkey Frog (Phyllomedusa bicolor).

Many participants experience it as a deeply grounding physical reset that supports both body and mind.

Kambó is always optional and offered only after careful preparation and individual assessment.

May support:

  • Physical cleansing
  • Immune system support
  • Increased energy
  • Mental clarity
  • Reconnection with the body

Mushrooms (Los Niños Santos)

Sacred mushrooms have long been used in indigenous traditions as a gentle yet profound medicine for self-exploration and healing.

Compared to Ayahuasca, many people experience mushrooms as more heart-centered and emotionally accessible, helping them reconnect with emotions, creativity, and compassion.

May support:

  • Emotional processing
  • Self-reflection
  • Connection with the inner child
  • Creativity
  • Compassion and openness

Bufo Alvarius

Bufo Alvarius is one of the most powerful medicines we work with and is never offered routinely.

Because of its intensity, we only recommend Bufo after careful individual assessment and when we feel it genuinely supports the participant’s process.

For some people, the experience brings a profound sense of unity, peace, and freedom from personal identity. For others, it may simply create space for deep surrender and trust.

Integration afterwards is an essential part of the process.

May support:

  • Deep emotional release
  • Expanded awareness
  • Inner peace
  • Spiritual connection
  • Letting go of fear

Rapé

Rapé is a traditional Amazonian sacred snuff made from medicinal plants and sacred tobacco.

We use Rapé as a supportive practice before or after ceremonies to help quiet the mind, increase presence, and create a stronger sense of grounding.

May support:

  • Grounding
  • Mental clarity
  • Presence
  • Focus
  • Emotional balance

Sananga

Sananga is a traditional eye medicine prepared from Amazonian medicinal plants.

It is commonly used before ceremonies and is known for supporting both physical and energetic clarity.

The application is brief but intense, often followed by a feeling of calmness, openness, and renewed perception.

May support:

  • Clarity
  • Emotional release
  • Presence
  • Grounding
  • Energetic cleansing

Xanga

Xanga is a gentle herbal blend containing DMT that is typically experienced as slower and more embodied than other DMT-based medicines.

When appropriate, it may support participants in connecting with themselves through a calm and conscious process.

Xanga is only offered after individual assessment.

May support:

  • Deep relaxation
  • Self-awareness
  • Emotional openness
  • Embodiment
  • Inner exploration

Temazcal

Temazcal is a traditional Mayan sweat lodge ceremony that combines heat, prayer, breath, and connection with the natural elements.

For many people, it becomes an important part of the retreat, supporting emotional release, grounding, and reconnection with nature and the body.

May support:

  • Physical cleansing
  • Emotional release
  • Grounding
  • Relaxation
  • Connection with nature

Cacao Ceremony

Our closing cacao ceremony offers a gentle transition between the retreat experience and everyday life.

Rather than creating an altered state, ceremonial cacao supports openness, gratitude, reflection, and integration.

It is a beautiful way to close the retreat together as a group.

May support:

  • Emotional openness
  • Gratitude
  • Heart connection
  • Integration
  • Reflection

Kundalini Yoga, Meditation & Breathwork

Plant medicine is only one part of our retreats.

Every day also includes gentle Kundalini Yoga, meditation, breathwork, and nervous system regulation practices that help participants reconnect with their bodies and integrate their experiences more deeply.

We believe that some of the most important healing happens not only during ceremony, but in the way we learn to live afterwards.

These practices help create that bridge.

Our Approach

We do not believe that everyone should experience every medicine.

Each retreat is guided individually, and every recommendation is based on the participant’s health, emotional readiness, previous experience, and overall process.

Sometimes the deepest healing comes not from adding another ceremony, but from creating enough space to integrate the one you’ve already experienced.

Our priority is never intensity.

Our priority is safety, balance, and meaningful transformation.

Safety & Responsibility

Working with sacred plant medicines is not suitable for everyone.

Certain physical or mental health conditions, as well as some medications—including SSRIs, SNRIs, MAOIs, and other psychiatric medications—may not be compatible with this work.

For this reason:

  • Every participant completes a detailed health questionnaire before arrival.
  • Each application is reviewed individually.
  • We may recommend postponing participation if we believe it is not currently safe.

Your well-being always comes before the retreat itself.
